Bitgesell Burning Day 2025

Dear Friends and BGL Holders,

The Bitgesell Burning Day (BBD) will no longer be held as an event encouraging holders to burn their own coins. Last year, a total of 5,676 BGL were burned between 12 and 13 October 2024, and despite the Community’s efforts to promote the event two months in advance, only six holders participated.

Furthermore, considering that over the past five years a total of 240,318.09 BGL have been burned — rather than the 1.1 million erroneously displayed by the Bitaps Explorer — it no longer makes sense to promote individual burns as a means of increasing BGL’s value. Its real worth depends primarily on adoption, development, stability, and trust.

Despite the error on Bitaps discovered by @BW4rley, it has become evident that Bitgesell holds strong potential for the future, particularly when the market recovers and the long-awaited altcoin season begins.

From now on, the Bitgesell Burning Day will serve exclusively to burn any BGL awarded to the person or institution named BOY (Bitgesell of the Year), should they fail to claim their prize within 365 days of the most recent draw. If the BGL awarded to the BOY 2024 winner (Elon M.) remains unclaimed, it will be burned during BBD 2026.

We remain confident that Bitgesell is a currency with the potential to surprise in the years ahead — perhaps even the one most capable of turning any holder into a millionaire overnight.

BITGESELL BURNING DAY Bitgesell Burning Day (BBD) is an initiative created in 2024 by the Bitgesell Community on Telegram. The goal is to promote the sale, use and adoption of Bitgesell cryptocurrency as a store of value and actively increase the scarcity of BGL coins, thereby enhancing their value over time. BBD is scheduled to take place on the second weekend of October each year, lasting two days from 00:00 on Saturday to 23:59:59 on Sunday. This provides ample time for all holders to participate by burning BGL coins or satoshis.
