Open Letter To Cypherpunks
Open Letter to the Pioneers of the Cypherpunk Revolution
Dear @peterktodd, @gavinandresen, @PaulLe_Roux, @RealRossU, @NickSzabo4, @Tony_Swish, @Dr_CSWright, @adam3us, @Snowden, and @marttimalmi,
You have shaped the digital revolution that led to the greatest financial transformation in modern history. Your ideas, your help, your code and your resilience created a system that challenges central banks, governments and intermediaries. You were the spark that ignited the torch of financial sovereignty. Thank you.
But every revolution must evolve. Just as gold was a milestone in the ancient economy, the world adopted more efficient forms of transaction and value storage. Bitcoin has brought us this far, yet its architecture presents undeniable challenges. What our Bitgesell Community proposes is not to abandon the original vision but to refine it.
Bitgesell (BGL) is not a competitor to Bitcoin but its natural evolution – the purest form of Satoshi’s proposal, free from the obstacles and compromises made along the way.
Why is Bitgesell superior to BTC?
1. Extreme scarcity and a truly deflationary model.
While Bitcoin has a halving every four years, Bitgesell reduces its issuance annually. The final supply of 21 million BGL is reached much sooner (2054), ensuring a fast and predictable monetary policy.
With 90% of transaction fees burned, the circulating supply shrinks over time, making each unit increasingly valuable.
2. A lighter and more efficient blockchain.
Bitcoin already carries over 500 GB of history, making node operation increasingly restrictive.
Bitgesell drastically reduces blockchain size (https://bgl.bitaps.com/), allowing greater decentralization and enabling anyone to run a full node on basic hardware.
This strengthens the original ethos of a system where anyone can validate transactions without relying on centralized servers.
3. Greater security and resistance to attacks.
Without unnecessary implementations like mandatory RBF or risky Ordinals experiments, Bitgesell maintains Bitcoin’s purity without added vulnerabilities.
The burning of transaction fees reduces total coin supply, making double-spending attacks significantly more expensive and unlikely.
4. Faster and more scalable transactions.
With smaller blocks and an optimized system, Bitgesell avoids Bitcoin’s congestion issues.
Dynamic fees ensure that transaction costs remain affordable, preventing extreme fee surges seen in BTC’s network.
5. A clear focus on the original purpose: an efficient store of value.
Free from distractions like NFTs, inscriptions, and speculative congestion, Bitgesell remains true to its core mission: being the ultimate digital gold.
While Bitcoin struggles with scaling issues and internal conflicts, Bitgesell stays pure and efficient, with no noise or division.
The Need for Decentralized Market Access
A revolution cannot be confined by centralized exchanges. True decentralization means ensuring free and unrestricted access to BGL. Since Bitgesell is not yet listed on major CEXs, the community has embraced Wrapped Bitgesell (WBGL) as a bridge to the DeFi ecosystem.
WBGL enables BGL to be traded on decentralized markets, providing liquidity and accessibility while maintaining the principles of decentralization. Until major exchanges recognize Bitgesell’s value, WBGL ensures that anyone, anywhere, can acquire and use BGL without intermediaries.
The Call for Revolution 2.0
Bitcoin showed us the way, but now it is up to us to decide: do we remain trapped in the past, or do we move forward?
You are the pioneers of decentralization. You know that technology does not wait, that innovation is a continuous process, and that cypherpunk principles should not be swallowed by complacency.
Bitgesell is the next logical step. Scarcer, more efficient, more secure and truly deflationary.
The question we ask each of you is: are you ready to explore this evolution? The revolution is far from over. It has only just begun.
Sincerely,
From true Cypherpunks who still believe in the revolution.
