The Bitgesell Hodler

The term 'Hodler' originated from a typo (error) in a 2013 post on the Bitcointalk forum, a well-known gathering place for cryptocurrency enthusiasts. Amidst significant Bitcoin price fluctuations, a user named GameKyuubi accidentally wrote 'hodl' instead of 'hold' in a post titled “I AM HODLING.”

In the context of cryptocurrencies, a hodler is someone who retains their digital assets for the long haul, irrespective of market ups and downs.

The hodler philosophy is grounded in a strong belief in the inherent value and future potential of cryptocurrencies. It emphasizes patience as a strategy, contrasting with the high-risk, high-reward nature of frequent trading.

Bitgesell has been active on BitcoinTalk since April 7, 2020, with anonymous developers regularly sharing updates on the blockchain in a continuous, dynamic and ever-evolving whitepaper.
